Redwood City

A bustling small city at the heart of Silicon Valley.

Welcome to Redwood City

A bustling small city at the heart of Silicon Valley.

Redwood City sits northwest of Menlo Park in Silicon Valley, stretching from the San Francisco Bay to the Junipero Serra Freeway. It's a hub of innovation and home to major tech companies like Oracle, Google, and Electronic Arts. It's well connected to the rest of Silicon Valley and the Bay Area via the Caltrain, which runs through the middle of downtown, along with the 101 and 280. With over 80,000 residents, it's one of the bigger cities in the Valley, giving residents a wealth of shopping, dining, and entertainment options in the bustling downtown area.

Redwood City offers several excellent neighborhoods. Emerald Hills has elegant hillside estates and access to the Emerald Hills Golf Course. Farm Hills is a gorgeous, established neighborhood with many ranch-style homes on generously sized plots. Redwood City's downtown area has undergone a massive transformation in the last 20 years. It's now an in-demand area for tech workers looking for low-maintenance condos with luxury amenities. This is the perfect place if you seek a well-connected Silicon Valley city with plenty to do.

What to Love

  • A bustling city with a vibrant downtown and packed events calendar
  • Excellent tech industry opportunities with major employers in town
  • Great highway and train connections to the rest of the Valley and Bay Area

Local Lifestyle

Redwood City is an excellent compromise for those who want to live outside a central metropolitan area but still want plenty of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. The community knows how to have a good time, too. Fantastic annual events bring the community together, along with many cultural and arts festivals celebrating residents' creativity and diversity. Redwood City was also named one of the best climates in the world, so people here make the most of that great weather by spending plenty of time outdoors. You'll have excellent access to parks, trails, and many opportunities to get out on the water.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Head to downtown Redwood City for fantastic dining and entertainment options alongside theaters and museums. Start your night out in Redwood City at Milagros Latin Kitchen. The lively restaurant serves authentic Mexican dishes and signature blue agave tequila drinks. If you are craving pizza, the only place to go is Vesta. The bustling kitchen serves wood-fired pizzas, and the patio is an excellent spot for people-watching. If you need more Italian food, head to Donato Enoteca. The upscale modern take on traditional Italian dishes will hit the spot. Their open kitchen is a treat to watch. On date night, visit Quinto Sol across from the Courthouse Square. It's a swanky spot serving beautifully plated Mexican dishes with a popular tequila bar.

Things to Do

There is plenty to do in Redwood City! Many local community events center around Courthouse Square on Broadway across from the Fox Theatre. It's where you'll find the popular summer concert series. It's also the perfect place to watch the 4th of July celebrations. The San Mateo County History Museum is at the back of the square. It's a great place to learn more about the area's history through creative, interactive exhibits. Be sure to take the kids to the Magical Bridge Playground, one of the best playgrounds in the Bay Area.
